One of the first things that I have learned being a mechanic on cars, motorcycles, and vessels is safety is first. On the marine side the first things that I look at is the bildge system, fuel system, and any fitting that are below the waterline. The first thing I do is check the bildge pump works and the float switch. Not to upsell a repair if it is not working, it’s because that is your last line of defense if a leak happens when you are out on the water. Fuel system is mainly a quick smell check and visual check. Lastly thru hull fitting and hose check. I always recommend doing a quick check of atleast these systems every time before you go out on the water for the day.
